Friends of Lucas County Dogs

Friends of Lucas County Dogs is 501(c)3 organization, dedicated to advocating and supporting the dogs, staff, and volunteers of LC4. Lucas County Canine Care and Control provided care for over 2500 local dogs in 2017. Our vision is to provide all dogs in Lucas County with loving lifetime homes and until that home is found, Friends of Lucas County Dogs is there to provide enrichment and supplement the services that the staff and volunteers provide.

It’s been both fun and rewarding to be involved with Friends of Lucas County Dogs from the start. My first event volunteering was at the Art Loop in Downtown Toledo in August 2017. We featured art made by a few of the dogs in the shelter and had some LC4 alumni stop by our booth to say hello. An evening cruise along the Maumee River on the Sandpiper was so much fun and also raised money to purchase leashes and toys to provide enrichment for the dogs in the shelter. Connecting with the community to support the dogs and the staff of LC4 and also helping to educate on the importance of licensing your dog has been a great experience. I’m thankful to the dedicated group of people who spent many hours making Friends of Lucas County Dogs a reality and a 501(3)c non-profit to ensure that Lucas County Canine Care & Control is a positive experience for the dogs during their stay.
